Thanks for sharing Mary. Yes, some work environments are just not a match. Sometimes it’s the culture. The work. The style in which we’re asked to work. Sometimes it’s personal issues.

However the only thing we have control over – ever – is “we” “me” “I”. No-one is going to sail in and rescue. Harsh! So it’s up to us to focus on our positive attributes and value (and that of others) and then put one foot in front of the other.

I was recently fired from my job after being there for over a year. I have not been told specifically as to why. I am told that I went over my boundries, yet never told what it was I did so I could correct it. Alot was other enploees, gosiping and tatleing, felt as if I were in kindergartin. I was actually releived to be let go due to the extreme negativity that was in the upper staff, director, and all following him down to my position. I worked with smi cts and had no problems with them. I am 57 and have been trained in this field, am disabled physically and emotionally. I had a meltdown after my mother died and other losses, and had no support from family friends, and went into a unconscious state for months. this article and facts seem to be the kind of thing I need to come back to reality.

Guys I live Hermanus in the Western Cape and have to stay here for a while due to personal reasons. To get a job in this town is not a joke! I am a househusband at the moment (hee, hee hee) The salaries are not what you would get in the city. If anyone of you out there aware of a potential employer in this area, please let me know. I specialise in all aspects of adminstration and audits

I have just moved to a new city, after taking a year to recover from a car accident. I have got really nervous about interviews, purely because I just dont know how to explain what I have been doing for a year, without the fear of being rejected becuase i am not in the “game”. Just a little apprehensive, and now being in a new place I would just like some advice of where to start?.. and how to answer the question correctly…

Recruitment agencies are useless.
They want to see me, and ask me a million generic questions, and at the end of the thing they tell me there are no jobs available. Thanks for wasting my time.

And when there’s a specific job that Ill be perfect for, but they need to see me first. Then after all the bullshit questions they ask me, “How much experience do you have working on laser equipment?”
“None” I say.
“Oohh. Actually they are looking for someone with extensive knowledge and experience with lasers and stuff”
“Well, stupid recruiter girl. What the hell made you think I was perfect for this job, which requires extensive experience in a field that I never mentioned in my CV? Did you even read it? Clearly not.

Idiots all of them
